The Rainbow, Hanmer Springs

January 9th Carl, Pam & Robin, Trish & Linton, Pat, Rob & Myself have just been on a 4x4 drive through the Rainbow at the back of Hanmer Springs, we followed the pylon road that wound itself through the mountains. Some of these images are taken with my Lensbaby, in fact most of them are!

Carl taking some Borage that was creeping up a gully on the side of the road

Lake Tennyson where we set up camp in a very strong wind!! good camping fun

Pat setting up her tent, very handy loo in the middle of nowhere!
This was known as the bog, & it was! if only the wind would stop we could have taken some great macro shots of native flowers

Rob sharing a bottle of whisky around
The men cooking our tea! Trish photographing the occasion

Pat down at the lake edge
Big discussion on where to catch a fish

Linton comes back with one, which we all shared that evening

The clouds spilling over the edge of the mountain

The road was very dusty as we drove on for our next stop
We stopped by a hut for lunch

Loo with a view!

Pam getting a mouses view of the Herashiam flowers

Were on our way againNext we stop at the Tarns, still very windy, so we stop their again on the way back both lots of photos together

Pat
This is how nice it was on the return visit
Carl Rob & Linton

The next night we found Conners hut, with 6 bunks so we opted for this, Trish & Linton tented. The men cooking again! Native Robin

Green Hooded Orchid

The hut was surrounded by trees & by a lovely clear mountain stream, with flowers all around

We stopped many times to photograph the flowers on our way out

The mountains are very rugged but the flowers beautiful

O dear! all hands on deck! photo opportunity, spent the next night at Hanmer in a motel!, then went to the hot pools in the morning & had a lovely lunch with Carl & his family at the Power House. A good weekend.
