Adventure Trekking NZ

Day 3

We camped two days at this hut normally it would have been one.
It was many years ago when Rob I and the boys stayed in the little hut there are photos still on the wall which I took on that trip
yesterday we rode up the valley which was lovely, today we move on to the next hut

Packing up in the morning, tacking up takes time

After several hours of trekking we crossed the river for a grassy spot where the horses could graze while we eat our lunch, plenty of banks available for us to get back on!!

Breeze has been such a lovely horse to ride

Rob having his lunch while Tussock has a back shoe sorted

John shoeing Tussock

The last hut Was quite small,  several people slept in tents or under the stars!

All the tack and packs laid out ready for tack up

Rob and Tussock ready

Lots of river crossing today, the landscape has changed from open scape to gorge and rocky Terrain

Nearing St Bathans conventional farmland now.

Riding into St Bathans at the end of the trek
It was such a lovely ride through amazing countryside.

 Adventure Trekking

In March we joined up with 8 other New Zealanders and Trekked into the mountains over from the Lindis, Dunstan & Old Man Range to St Bathans. We stayed in huts on the way. The Horses were magnificent and the company great.
